All of us have grown up listening to, “ I have a dream to achieve my goals.” “That is my ultimate goal”, but do we know what the meaning of the word ‘ goal’ is?

All of us have grown up listening to, “ I have a dream to achieve my goals.” “That is my ultimate goal”, but do we know what the meaning of the word ‘ goal’ is? A goal is an aim or objective that you work toward with effort and determination. It is important to ask the question, is it necessary to set goals and once set how to achieve them? Goals tend to provide us with a sense of purpose and hold us accountable as we seek pleasure and well-being to live our best lives. Setting goals assists in the initiation of new behaviors, the direction of your focus, and the maintenance of momentum in life. Goals can also help you focus and feel more in control of your life. Finally, you can't manage what you don't measure, and you can't improve what you don't manage correctly. Setting goals can assist you in accomplishing all of these things and more.


Now the question of how to achieve your goals arises?

However, to achieve your goals, you must first understand how to set them. Setting goals is a process that begins with thorough contemplation of what you want to accomplish and concludes with a lot of hard work to accomplish it. There are golden rules to set achievable goals.


Make a list of goals that will inspire you

When you set goals for yourself, they must drive you: this involves ensuring that they're meaningful to you and reaching them is worthwhile.


Focus on SMART goals

Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant Time-Bound. Setting SMART targets helps you to focus your efforts, make better use of your time and resources, and increase your chances of achieving your life goals. It is a strong tool that provides clarity, focus, and determination to help you achieve your goals. It can also assist you in achieving them by encouraging you to set objectives and set a timeframe for achieving them. Anyone, anyone can utilize SMART goals because no special equipment or training is necessary.


Make a plan of action

This is a crucial phase in the goal-setting process that is sometimes overlooked. You become so focused on the result that you overlook all of the necessary steps along the road.


Hold on to it

Remember that goal-setting is a continuous process, not only a means to an end. Set reminders to keep yourself on track and schedule time to review your goals regularly.


It's never enough to have just intentions. If you don't do it correctly, even full-fledged goal-setting isn't worth much. To achieve the goals you need to make sure they are ‘Realistic’, there is a need to break down the big long term goal into small steps to make it more achievable along with that celebrate every successful step of goal achievement, surround yourself in an environment which makes the goal easier to accomplish, create structural solutions. Make your goal a part of your identity, it turns out that emotions are a very important motivating factor.
